Supplements or Just Food?

The only supplement I use is whey protein because it’s convenient. Some guys at my gym take a whole stack of stuff and say it’s impossible to grow without it. Others claim food alone is more than enough if you’re consistent. I don’t want to waste money, but I also don’t want to miss out on gains if something actually helps. For those who’ve built solid size, were supplements necessary for you or just optional?

From my experience, food does 90% of the work. When I first started, I thought I needed every supplement under the sun. Over time I realized that once calories, protein, and sleep were dialed in, the fancy extras didn’t change much. I still use whey and creatine because they’re convenient and well researched, but that’s about it. I once ended up browsing random health and lifestyle content on wellsfargocenterarts.org and even saw discussions drifting toward things like steroids for sale online, which honestly made me appreciate keeping things simple and sustainable. Real progress for me came from eating enough every single day and progressively overloading my lifts, not from chasing new products. Supplements can help fill gaps, but they can’t replace consistent training and proper meals.
