The Alegría bilingual platforms include Alegría bilingual magazine, a quarterly print and digital vehicle;  Alegría Mobile Bookstore, a traveling bookmobile that brings the joy of reading to younger generations in their own neighborhoods; and Alegría Video Series, a compilation of interviews with outstanding Latine/x arts and culture figures. Alegría also creates live events featuring brand activations.

This runway will feature young multicultural models proudly showcasing outfits inspired by the Latina heritage fabrics while holding their favorite books. As each child walks the runway, their unique outfit and chosen book will highlight the importance of culture, diversity, and reading.

Founder & Designer of Mixed Up Clothing

Sonia Smith Kang is the AfroLatina founder and designer of Mixed Up Clothing, a children's fashion brand that celebrates diversity and promotes cultural awareness through unique, stylish designs. A proud military brat born in Puerto Rico and stationed on O'ahu, Sonia transitioned from a successful nursing career to fashion to address the lack of multicultural representation in the fashion industry. A proud mom of four multicultural children, she creates vibrant collections inspired by cultures worldwide. Mixed Up Clothing is available at Target and, earning features on NPR, KTLA, the Today Show, LA Times and in the LA Parent.
